The 29-year-old is described as white, slim to medium build, 6ft tall, with short light brown hair. He has tattoos on his neck and right arm and a sleeve tattoo on his left arm.

He has links to Skelmersdale, Merseyside, Wigan and Standish.

Det Sgt Pete Reil, of Lancashire Police's South CID, said: “While we believe this was a targeted incident we are treating it extremely seriously as it is only a matter of good fortune that no-one was seriously hurt.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious on Friday evening to get in touch and I would urge anyone who knows where Richard Shacklady is or who sees him to contact us.
