Man found carrying makeshift spear

A man carrying a makeshift spear was found in a Leigh car park, magistrates heard.

It is alleged that Nicholas Taylor, of Church Street, Leigh, was arrested after being spotted in the library car park on St Mary’s Way on April 24 toting a long stick with a knife blade attached to the end of it.

The 32-year-old has yet to enter a plea and Wigan justices adjourned the case until November 4.
