Zak Fairhurst, of Gadbury Fold, was charged with having 14 category A photos - those deemed the gravest images of abuse - plus 18 category B and 17 category C in October 2018 when the 22-year-old appeared before Wigan and Leigh justices.

Now having admitted to the charges before a Bolton Crown Court judge, he was given an eight-month prison term but it was suspended for two years. Fairhurst was also ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, attend a programme for sex offenders and pay £140 to victim services. The judge imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and he must sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the same amount of time.
