One-time Latics winger Ryan Colclough is accused of attacking the emergency worker and criminal damage following an incident in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, on June 24.

South Yorks Police said that at 10.50pm that day officers attended the Taco Bell drive-through at the Herten Triangle retail park after receiving reports of a man acting drunk and disorderly in a public place.

During an arrest attempt, an officer was assaulted and sustained injuries to his face and damage to his glasses.

Colclough, 25, who now plays for Scunthorpe United, has been bailed to appear in the dock at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on November 24.

Born in Burslem, Stoke, Colclough first played professionally for Crewe Alexandra before signing for Wigan Athletic in 2016.

After a spell on loan to Milton Keynes Dons, he was recalled to Latics and in one game famously scored twice before being substituted so he could be at hospital in time for the birth of his son.

He joined Scunthorpe in August 2018 for an undisclosed fee and is now a Doncaster resident.

His new club later announced that he had been suspended pending an internal investigation.
