Police appeal after man in 20s shot in leg

A man in his 20s has been shot in the leg in Skelmersdale.

The man was attacked at a house in Ennerdale at about 9.30pm on Sunday (September 6).

Police were called to reports a gunshot had been heard in the area.

Emergency services attended a nearby address and found the man with a wound to his leg believed to have come from a shotgun.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

An investigation is now underway and police have launched an appeal for information.

DI Jason Richardson, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “We understand that incidents like this are concerning for the community and we would like to reassure people that we have a team of officers working on finding who was responsible.

“We will remain in the area speaking to people as part of our investigation and to offer reassurance to residents.

“We would now urge anybody with concerns or information to contact us as soon as possible.”
