Shots fired during armed robbery at Wigan post office

Police were called to Golborne Post Office, on Heath Street, Golborne, shortly after 9.10am on Friday to reports of a robbery.

A spokesman said: "Officers attended and established that two men had entered the premises before demanding a quantity of cash be handed over. A firearm was subsequently discharged inside the property.

"There are not believed to be any injuries.

"The men fled the scene along Barn Lane, Golborne in the direction of the A580 in a red Audi S3."

Police are investigating the robbery and no arrests have yet been made.
