Suspended prison term for attacker

A man who assaulted and threatened a woman, smashed her phone and broke in a door has been give a 12-month suspended prison sentence.

Samuel Jones, 26, of Maple Avenue, Atherton, appeared in the dock before Wigan and Leigh magistrates to plead guilty to the offences against Demi Louise James on July 12 last year and also admitted to breaching a non-molestation order imposed by Wigan Civil Court by going to an address in Westcroft, Platt Bridge, on May 9.

As well as the suspended custodial term, Jones was ordered to complete a 28-day building better relationships course and pay a total of £372 to the court and victim services.

The court bill was bigger than usual because he had initially denied some of the charges, so extending the justice process.
