VIDEO: Royal Mail van stolen from Wigan street while postal worker delivers mail

This is the shocking moment a Royal Mail van was stolen while a postal worker was delivering a parcel just yards away.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV, occurred in Woodville Road, Ince, on the morning of February 11.

In the video, the Royal Mail van can be seen pulling up outside an address on the residential street, before the female postal worker gets out to knock at property's front door.

While she waits on the doorstep, a passer-by, wearing all black, can be seen walking towards the van, while keeping a close eye on the employee.

As the suspect approaches the van, they break into a short run and jump into the driver's seat and speeds away. The Royal Mail worker attempts to chase after the stolen van but is unable to catch up as the suspect flees.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation but, so far, no arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At 11:36am on Thursday 11 February 2021, police were called to reports of theft of a motor vehicle at Woodville Road, Ince.

"Enquiries have established that a postal worker was delivering mail when the offender approached her vehicle - a postal delivery van - and fled the scene in the vehicle.

"No arrests have been made."
