Wigan man who denies sexual touching charge will stand trial next month

A Wigan man accused of sexually touching a woman when she did not consent will face a trial before borough justices.

Dowie Hughes, from Ashton, pleaded not guilty to the allegation against him when he appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court.

The charge, of intentionally touching a woman aged over 16 in a sexual matter when she did not consent and the accused did not believe her to be consenting, relates to an incident which is supposed to have happened between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on October 11.

Hughes, 39, will now return to court for his trial on November 25.

He was bailed and has to abide by a curfew which confines him to his home address on Bryn Road South overnight, running from 7pm until 7am.
