Jason Kelly, 35, of Crompton Street, Scholes, and 41-year-old Shaun Liptrot, of Willow Road, Beech Hill, had initially denied committing the offence in Wigan Lane near to the infirmary on Bonfire Night 2019.

But after many delays to the case, in part due to Covid-19 restrictions, they reappeared in the dock at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court to change their pleas to guilty.

Both were given 18-month discharges and ordered to pay £200 each in compensation to the local authority plus another £21 to victim services.
