Wigan secondary school issues stranger danger alert

St Peter's Catholic High School in Orrell has warned parents and pupils after an incident as a girl was walking home.

The school said a van pulled up next to the pupil on Orrell Road close to The Mount pub on Monday afternoon and a bald man leaned out of the vehicle's window.

He began trying to talk to her and made inappropriate comments.

The mother of the pupil has reported the incident to the police, the school said.

Staff at the Orrell secondary school have been reminding their classes about the importance of staying safe when travelling to and from school.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious should report it to police on 101 or contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
