Despite not being prosecuted for aggravated burglary and threats to kill and commit arson, a Wigan 33-year-old is still jailed after admitting to attacking a woman and other offences

A Wigan thug who attacked a woman and threatened her with a knife has been jailed for three years.

Jordan Hampson, 33, of Spring Street, Wigan, had been due to stand trial at Bolton Crown Court this month charged with aggravated burglary, threats to kill and threats to commit arson, which he had denied.

But he had previously confessed to causing his victim actual bodily harm and criminal damage and when he changed his plea to threatening someone with an offensive weapon, the judge allowed the other charges to lie on file while imposing a 36-month custodial term.

The weapon was a folding knife and Hampson caused £400 damage by smashing a kitchen window.

All the offences were committed on February 25 this year in Wigan.
