A motorist who admitted driving without due care and attention has been fined £80.

Samantha Walsh, 36, of Crook Street, Wigan, must also pay £85 prosecution costs and a £34 victim surcharge after the incident on Wigan Road, Standish, on December 11.

Her driving licence was endorsed with five points.

A motorist who got behind the wheel while nearly three times the drink-drive limit will find out his punishment later this month.

Cameron Brennan, 31, of Cedar Avenue, Hindley Green, has pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot partner van on Ashfield Park Drive, Standish, with 101mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The legal limit for driving is 35mcg.

He was remanded on unconditional bail until a sentencing hearing at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on September 30.

A Wigan teenager has been jailed for three years for sexual activity with a child.

Luke Aspey, 18, of Newland Avenue, Pemberton, incited a 10-year-old to expose himself for his sexual gratification and breached a sexual harm prevention order by having a device that could access the internet.

He was jailed for 36 months by a judge at Bolton Crown Court and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

A sexual harm prevention order was imposed for seven years.

A Wigan woman will be sentenced next month for using or threatening to use violence at a supermarket.

Claire Forbes, 41, of Millers Lane, Platt Bridge, had previously denied committing the offence at Iceland, in Platt Bridge, on October 30, but changed her plea to guilty last month.

She also admitted stealing items worth £59.80 from the store on the same day and failing to attend court while on bail.

Wigan magistrates have now set a date for sentencing of October 3 and asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Forbes was remanded on unconditional bail until then.

A woman has admitted carrying out an assault at a convenience store.

Kimberley Hilton, 29, of Cecil Street, Leigh, has pleaded guilty to assaulting Julianna Boddington by beating her at McColl's, on Manchester Road, Astley, on July 3 last year. Wigan magistrates imposed a two-year conditional discharge and a restraining order for 12 months.

Hilton was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs, £50 compensation and £22 to fund victim services.

The case against a man accused of stealing two bottles of whisky has been dismissed after no evidence was offered.

Nathan Shaw, 22, of Findlay Street, Leigh, had denied taking the bottles from Asda in Leigh on May 21.

A thief who stole cosmetics from the same shop seven times in a few weeks will be sentenced next month.

Scott Hutchinson, 39, of Reedsmere Close, Newtown, pleaded guilty to taking items worth hundreds of pounds from Boots on April 15 and 30 and May 1, 2, 3, 10 and 22.

Wigan magistrates issued a warrant when he failed to attend court on Monday, but it was withdrawn when he arrived later, citing travel difficulties.

The bench asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and scheduled the next hearing for October 4.

Hutchinson was remanded on bail with conditions which include a ban on him going to Robin Retail Park.

A Wigan man who admitted stalking a woman and threatening to share a private photograph or film has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Ian Dickinson, 57, of Livingstone Street, Ashton, sent text messages to a woman, turned up at her home uninvited, threatened to share the photograph and caused £100 worth of damage to her kitchen floor.

He had initially denied carrying out the offences - which happened between May 6 and 13 - but later changed his pleas to guilty.

Wigan justices imposed a 23- week prison sentence due to the seriousness of the offences and the distress caused to the woman and her daughter over several days, but suspended it for 18 months.

Dickinson must have mental health treatment for six months, attend 10 days of rehabilitation activities and do 100 hours of unpaid work.

A restraining order was imposed which bans him from contacting the woman and her daughter for two years.

He was told to pay £1,100 in compensation, £310 prosecution costs and £122 to fund victim services.

A trial date has been set for a man accused of causing £2,000 worth of damage to a house.

Daniel Wilde, 29, of Castle Hill Road, Hindley, denies destroying a window and exterior of a building belonging to Jigsaw Housing Group on June 17.

Wigan magistrates will hear the trial on November 28.

Wilde was remanded on conditional bail.

A Wigan man accused of making unwanted contact with a woman will have to wait until 2023 to stand trial.

Jamie Ascroft, 36, of Levens Place, Ince, is charged with phoning the woman while withholding the number on October 2 and making unwanted contact with her on February 4.

He admitted breaching the conditions of his bail, ie an electronically monitored curfew, on July 29 when he appeared before Wigan magistrates.

A trial will be held on January 9 and he was remanded on bail until then, with conditions which include an overnight curfew.
