Woman admits Wigan jail smuggling charges

A woman is awaiting sentence after admitting that she smuggled drugs, tobacco, a USB stick and sim cards into Wigan’s jail.

Tracey Hughes, 50, from Quarry Green Heights, Knowsley, entered guilty pleas to taking the contraband into Hindley Prison when she made her first appearance before a Bolton Crown Court judge.

Sentencing was adjourned to March 25 and she was released on bail until then.
