Cyclist seriously injured following collision with car in Wigan

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after his bike was in collision with a car in Wigan this morning, Monday.

Police were called to the incident on Manchester Road, Ince at around 5.30am and roads were closed for over an hour between the route's junctions with Ince Green Lane and Darlington Street.

Paramedics attended the scene and a man in his 50s was taken to hospital with injuries described by police as "serious, but not life threatening."

Part of Manchester Road and Warrington Road remained closed until 8am while emergency services attended the scene.

The casualty's condition is unknown.
