Delight as digital team beats tough competition to scoop award

Wigan Council has been crowned the leading council in the country for delivering services digitally and promoting the huge opportunities that digital can bring to residents and businesses.
The council scooped the title of ‘Digital Council of The Year’ at the national Digital Leaders 100 Awards, beating off tough competition from the likes of Edinburgh City Council, Birmingham City Council and seven other local authorities.
The council won for its pioneering digital strategy which aims to make Wigan Borough a truly digital borough by 2020.
