Rush hour traffic has been badly affected for the second morning running after a lorry crash on the M6 at Wigan.

The juggernaut was involved in a collision close to junction 26 at Orrell this morning (Thursday January 30) and National Highways says that one of the four southbound lanes between Orrell and junction 24 at Bryn have been closed while emergency services attend the scene.

Only yesterday morning, a multiple vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway near Standish brought motorway users to a standstill.

Traffic has already backed up to Standish and beyond after this latest smash and National Highways said that normal traffic conditions were only expected to resume at some time after 10am.

No details have so far been provided with regard to any casualties.
