Plans to host a Euro 2024 Fanzone on Believe Square have been announced by JM Events and Wigan Council

With the upcoming Men’s Euro 2024 tournament set to start next month, local businessman Jordan Khokhar brainstormed an idea to give Wigan its very own Fanzone on Believe Square.

It will ffeature a big screen to show all England games live, entertainment before and after each match alongside a bar and a barbecue hosted by Gallimore's Restaurant, to create a festival-like feel to the town centre.

JM Events & Promotions Ltd has formed a working partnership between Wigan Council and local businesses Gallimore's Restaurant and The Wiend Bar in a bid to bring customers and revenue into Wigan town centre.

Mr Khokhar said: "We are aiming to bring a city-like Fanzone to the centre of Wigan so that the people of Wigan can cheer on the national team and enjoy themselves in a safe environment.

"The project will bring some well-needed custom to Wigan town centre throughout the tournament, supporting local businesses. It's important to use these amazing spaces that the borough has to offer and benefit those from Wigan. This is a first for Wigan and it's excellent to see instead of people travelling to neighbouring cities that have similar Fanzones"
