Kidnap arrests after man abducted

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap after a man was bundled into the back of a car.

Police are appealing for witnesses after they were called to Twist Lane in Leigh, following reports that a man had been bundled into an orange Ford Focus, which then drove off towards Atherton.

An investigation has been launched and attempts to identify the victim are ongoing.

A 22-year-old man, a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Paul Rollinson, of GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “I understand that an incident like this will cause concern in the community.

“I want to reassure the public that we believe this to be a targeted attack that poses no threat to the wider community and we have stepped up patrols in the area.

“This happened on a busy road while lots of people were around so somebody must have seen something.

“We have already made three arrests in connection with this incident but our investigation continues.

“We would urge anybody who saw a vehicle matching this description or anything that can help our investigation to contact us.

“We would also like to appeal to the victim to contact the police, your safety is our priority.”
