Nominations for the annual Believe Sports Awards, which climax in the autumn, close on Friday.

Whether it’s recognising an athlete striving to compete on the international stage or rewarding a dedicated volunteer for their countless hours of support, your nominations matter. The awards reward and recognise those who put hard work and passion into local grassroots sport.

This year’s prestigious ceremony, organised by Inspiring healthy lifestyles on behalf of Wigan Council, will take place at the DW Stadium on Friday October 12, with special guests from across the professional sporting community.

Nominations can be made in the following categories: Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year, Sports Achiever of the Year, The Martin Lynn School Commitment to PE and Sport Award, Changing Lifestyle Recognition Award, Apprentice of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Wilf Brogan Unsung Hero Award and Club of the Year.

There is also a new award for 2018 in the shape of The Deal Community Programme of the Year

Nominations should reflect achievements between September 2017 and the closing date of July 27.
