Firefighters were called to a van fire on St Helens Road
A road was closed after a lorry burst into flames.

Firefighters were called to St Helens Road, Leigh, after the seven and a half tonne lorry, which was carrying furniture, burst into flames at around 12.20pm today, Saturday.

The fire was caused by an electrical fault and the lorry was completely destroyed.

St Helens Road was closed for around 20 minutes while the crew from Leigh fire station used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
