A pothole was discovered on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 27 (Parbold) and junction 26 (Orrell interchange) this morning (March 14).

Traffic was halted while it was repaired and all lanes have since re-opened following the completion of the work.

Highways England tweeted: "#M6 southbound #J27 to #J26 > Repair completed, and the block has been released - All lanes back open."
