Mad admits attempted murder after knife attack

Following a frenzied knife attack on a female work colleague an man man today (Friday) has admitted attempted murder.

Brian Deakin pleaded guilty to attempting to murder 42-year-old Deborah Evans at her home in Leigh on December 14 last year.

The victim was repeatedly slashed with a large kitchen knife to her head, shoulders, arms and upper chest while she lay on the floor in the hallway of her home.

Also during the early evening attack she was punched, kicked and stamped on before losing consciousness.

Deakin, of Willow Street, Atherton, who appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from Walton Prison, was further remanded in custody to await sentence on a date to be fixed in June or July.
