Main road reopens after tree block
A major commuter route through Wigan has been cleared after being blocked by a fallen tree on Friday morning.
Wigan Lane, the A49, had been closed by council officers during the peak rush hour period.
A spokesman for Wigan Council said traffic management teams were working to remove the fallen trunk and branches.
And the road was reopened by 10am.
The borough was been hit by severe weather including high winds, heavy rain and snow since Thursday.
