Man arrested after fatal crash

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash.

The 30-year-old, from Leigh, has been detained on suspicion of death by dangerous driving following an incident at around 5.40pm last night, Thursday, on Woolston Grange Avenue, Birchwood, Warrington.

The collision involved a white Ford Focus and a green Kawasaki motorcycle. Both vehicles were travelling northbound at the time of the collision.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed of the incident although formal identification has yet to take place.

Investigating Officer Neil Farnworth said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of our investigation we’re keen to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen this collision.

“I’d also like to speak to anyone who was believes that they may have seen either of the vehicles travelling in the local area prior to the collision taking place.”
