Luke Mobey, of Grattan Court, Worsley, Salford, denied two offences of raping the woman at a party on Boxing Day in Leigh last year and faced trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

But after his alleged victim’s video recorded police interview was played to the jury, prosecuting counsel Henry Riding offered no further evidence.

Judge David Aubrey, QC directed the jury to return not guilty verdicts but imposed an eight year restraining order to keep Mobey away from the young woman.
