Man hospitalised after lorry overturns
A lorry driver had to be taken to hospital after his HGV tipped onto its side at a roundabout.
Fire crews were called to Railway Road in Skelmersdale at around 8.45pm on Wednesday and found the overturned vehicle.
The driver had a head injury and firefighters gave him first aid until an ambulance arrived to take him to hospital.
The road was shut for several hours as the HGV was leaking diesel and blocking the roundabout.
Firefighters from Skelmersdale station were at the scene for around 45 minutes. Lancashire Police took over the scene, controlling traffic flow and arranging for highways engineers to clear up the spilt fuel.
A specialist rescue unit from Chorley also attended as it was feared the driver was trapped in the cab but he managed to get out of the stranded vehicle before the emergency services arrived.
