Police were called shortly after 11.30pm last night following reports that a man had been assaulted outside an address on York Road.

Officers found a 51-year-old man with stab wounds. He was taken by ambulance to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are on the scene today and have blocked off an alleyway while they continue to investigate.

Residents reported a heavy police presence in the area last night, with part of the street being cordoned off.

A post mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death was due to take place today.

Police say their enquiries are on-going and the man’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Two men, a 47-year-old of no fixed address and a 54-year-old from Lytham, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody.
