Yesterday, whilst driving the little one past his fathers workplace I said “look! There’s Daddy’s work, Hi Daddy!”
Little chap looked at me like he had the wisdom of ages and said “he can’t hear you Emma he’s upstairs inside and you’re in your car..” !!
He was right of course. What a fool I am!

It got me thinking about all the hilarious things the children I nanny for have said over the years. I still smile when I remember one of my little chaps saying “mama works SO hard at her work, not like you Emma, you don’t even have a job!”
I replied “but I look after you, that’s my job!”
He said, (whilst laughing hysterically) “THATS not a Emma!”
Don’t you just love them?
At around 3 children start to develop their personality more, they have (often strong!) opinions and enjoy conversations with adults to further their learning. They have a confidence and a certainty about their knowledge that grows daily.
I thoroughly enjoy hearing their views and how they express themselves. One of my past Nanny children announced to his family one morning "I not Henry, I RON" no body knew a Ron or why he'd decided to be one but he was adamant!
My little P is almost 2 years old now and she told her mummy quite plainly “I CROSS mummy! “ which I absolutely LOVE as it shows she’s not only developing language but also knowledge of her feelings and emotions. Once children have more language you’ll find their frustration and tantrums ease up, being able to say you’re not happy about something really helps.

Hide AdI remember many years ago telling my own daughter I was “disappointed “ in her. She replied “well I’m very disappointed in YOU mummy!” I had let her down by not allowing her to draw on the dining room table…!
And my own mummy tells me when she found a little scribble on her cheque book she asked “whose written “EMMA on here then?”
I told her “it wasn’t me, I don’t do my E’s like that…” !!!
I still don't. Just in case you're wondering..
