Paramedic Easter weekend warning

Ambulance chiefs have urged Wigan folk to make sure that any health care needs are in place as paramedics prepare for one of the year's busiest 999 weekends.

The North West Ambulance Service says that those who require medication should check they have enough for over the four-day period so they don’t run out. And it warns that it is useful to find out the opening hours of the local pharmacy as many will still be open over the holidays and can give advice or treatment for a minor health problem while the GP surgery is closed.

For minor injuries such as sprains, burns or cuts, then the local walk-in or urgent care centre will be able to provide the necessary treatment. Alternatively ring NHS 111. Only in the case of a real emergency ring 999.
