The grieving parents of a 14-year-old boy who died in a crash on the M58 have paid tribute to their "true superhero".
Lancashire Constabulary have named Joe Cairns, from Radcliffe in Bury, as the 14-year-old who died after the collision on Tuesday.
His parents, Steph and Andy Cairns, said: "Joe, my brave boy, a true fighter with a heart of gold. An amazing sense of humour and infectious smile, a true superhero.”
Joe, along with teacher Anne Kerr, 50, from Southport, were in a minibus travelling to Pontville School in Ormskirk when the crash happened.
A police spokesman said: "Our thoughts remain with the families of everyone affected by the tragic incidents on Tuesday. We have specially trained officers supporting them at this very sad and difficult time."
Police are continuing to investigate two collisions on the M58 on Tuesday morning and want any witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting long 275 of January 8
