Parents slam grave trolls

Karen and Paul Ledsham, of Haydock, said they were shocked and disgusted after they saw late night messages suggesting their 12-year-old son Harrison’s final resting place had been desecrated.

When they visited the graveyard of St Mark’s Church the next morning, they were relieved to discovered that no damage had been done, but they have slammed sick trolls for their callous “joke”.

Karen, 42, said: “It was really upsetting to read these posts.

“I was informed late at night, so there was nothing I could do, as I could not check because the gates were locked.

“We visited the next morning and found nothing had been touched and that it was just a horrible rumour.

“It is really sad that someone could spread such a rumour in his memory.

“We were just shocked and disturbed.

“The people commenting were schoolchildren, aged around 12 to 14.

“Some were from his school, and others were from elsewhere. We just don’t know.

“We were also concerned as there were threats being made to the person who had spread the rumours.

“We didn’t want anything nasty happening to them as they are only school kids.

“We would like an apology but Harrison didn’t have a bad bone in his body.

“The police have been informed about it.”

A spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed that officers had been informed and no further action has been taken.

Harrison, a former Haydock High School pupil and Saints fan, died in May, following a year-long battle with bone cancer.

Following his death, Karen and Paul have vowed to stay strong and have been fund-raising and spreading the word about childhood cancers.
