Baby joy for Jenny Meadows and Trevor Painter

The 39-year-old, who retired from athletics through injury just before the 2016 Olympic Games. announced last summer that she was expecting, with her husband and coach Trevor Painter.

Today, she took to Twitter to announce the news that she had given birth to a baby girl, called Arabella, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The couple had previously announced that they intended to wait until the big day to find out the baby's sex.

Jenny tweeted: "Welcome to the world Arabella Connie Meadows-Painter who was born at 00:12 on Sunday 10th Jan weighing 7lb 2oz. Myself & @Faster_feet promise to love and support you."

Husband Trevor also shared the happy announcement on his Twitter account, with both tweets receiving masses of well-wishes.
