Caravan filled with rubbish set alight

Fire crews were called to land at the back of Melrose Avenue in Leigh at around 9.20pm on Saturday.

They found a caravan had been filled with waste and was on fire among some trees.

The incident is being treated as suspicious and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been informed.

Wigan Council has also been asked to move the burnt-out caravan.

Two fire engines attended and were at the scene for around an hour.
