Dancing traffic cones descend on Wigan town centre

There aren't many things that would cause you to look twice on a typical weekend in Wigan town centre. But these dancing traffic cones certainly caught the eye on a cold, dark weekend evening!

There was widespread amusement and confusion in equal measure as a group of people dressed as traffic cones appeared at the zebra crossing between King Street and Wallgate, dancing their hearts out while the surrounding pubs and clubs remained closed under the Tier 3 rules.

The moment was captured on video by many onlookers who shared their clips on social media, leading to many a laugh from Facebook viewers.

The stunt was part of a publicity campaign for an online Boxing Day event being hosted by Wigan's The Fire Within art project, along with United We Stream GM. The online event will be put on to compensate for the lack of Wigan's world famous traditional December 26th fancy dress shenanigans.
