Shevington Library announces closure for "exciting changes"
A Wigan village library is to close temporarily for refurbishments starting next week.
It was announced via Wigan Libraries on Facebook that Shevington Library on Gathurst Lane will shut from Monday March 9 and then re-opening to the public on Monday March 16.

Shevington Library is a free-to-join, community-focused library in the Wigan borough. It offers seven public computers, Wi-fi, a separate children's section, and a meeting room for hire, alongside hosting the Village Art Gallery for local artists.
The library was officially opened in September 1970, replacing a smaller book-lending service previously housed in St Anne’s Parish Rooms on Church Lane. #
It serves as a community hub, hosting parish council meetings and police surgeries.
A spokesperson said: “We are working hard to transform your space into an even better place for you to enjoy.
"Thank you for your patience – we can’t wait to welcome you back to your improved library space!”
