A Wigan dad is believed to have been among two people killed when a car crashed while being pursued by police.

Tributes have been paid to Paddy Connors after the smash in Salford on Wednesday night.

Stuart Smith wrote on Facebook: "R.i.p Paddy Connors an absolute gentleman can not believe it fly high"

Adam Berry said: "Rest in peace Tommy Sharp and Paddy Connors Can’t believe it rest in peace boys will meet again"

An investigation is under way after the crash, which also led to three other people suffering serious injuries.

A police spokesman said: "At around 11.40pm on Wednesday, police observed a vehicle being driven at speed on Frederick Road, Salford.

"Officers initiated a pursuit and the vehicle in question collided with two third party vehicles.

"Two men from the vehicle in question were sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"One man and two women from a third party vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"No arrests have been made.

"In line with normal procedure, this incident has been referred to GMP's Professional Standards Branch and the IOPC."
