Her mum Megan Catchpole said: “She’s been riding her balance bike since she was two and we recently got her a new bike from the charity shop. Since we got the bike two weeks ago, she’s managed to clock 45 miles.

“She’s been all the way up to Haigh Hall and back from our house in Worsley Hall, all the way to Ashfield in Standish and back and to a few other places around Wigan on the canal.

“She’d heard about charities before and then we just put it together that we should do it for her school to raise money for play equipment.”

Noah-Mae attends St John’s Church of England Primary School and Megan works there as a teaching assistant, so she spoke to the deputy headteacher and headteacher, who were delighted by Noah-Mae’s fund-raising idea.

They planned to start with a 20-mile bike ride along the canal to Southport and around the town, before travelling home by train.

Megan and Noah-Mae hope to continue this each week, which should mean they will be finished within a month, depending on the weather.

Megan will be logging all the miles they complete via the Goals Fitness app to help make sure they reach their target.

In total, they are aiming to raise £400 for the school to buy new equipment.

Megan said: “This will make a massive difference. They’ve been wanting to get something sorted for the past year now for equipment, but there’s no funds for it, so it would make a massive difference.”

About Noah-Mae’s fund-raising effort, Megan said: “I couldn’t be prouder of her, she’s just an amazing little girl. She’s always going out of her way to think about others and thinking about what she can do next to help somebody. I can’t even put into words how great she is, she goes above and beyond in everything she does.”
