Wigan personal trainer Jennifer West struts her stuff on TV breakfast show

A Wigan-based personal trainer has joined an app-based TV breakfast show as a special guest presenter.

Jennifer West is appearing on Wakey!, a new programme aimed at boosting the mental wellbeing of viewers by making them laugh and smile.

On Wakey! this week Jennifer has been taking over the daily ‘bed aerobics’ slot which sees her showing viewers how to do simple exercises in bed.

Wakey is all about giving people a positive start to the day and brightening them up to help their mental wellbeing. Dressed in white shorts and top, she shows how to do a variety of exercises including crunches, press ups and leaping back and forth over the bed.

The Wakey! presenters, Love Island’s Chris Taylor and drag star Ginger Johnson, also join in and it proves to be good fun.

Wakey! which uses entertainment, celebrity guests, ‘bed aerobics’ and tips and advice to promote positive mental health.

Jennifer, from Winstanley, says on the show: “I’m taking you guys all through a bed workout

“We are going to start on our backs and do ab workouts this morning, so let’s go, on your backs. The bed is bouncing!”

In another exchange, Jennifer says: “We have got another workout in the bed, if there are two in the bed we need to coordinate this one because you are going to end up hitting each other.”

Chris replied: “I’ve lost a slipper! Oh my knee!”

Ginger then said: “I’m not sure I can do this on a swivel chair!”

Jennifer retorted: “You might be out of breath but keep going!”

Chris added: “Thanks for that Jen, I can’t breathe. You really make presenting this show hard!”

And Jennifer isn’t a stranger to TV after winning $500,000 on a gruelling American TV show.

She was crowned as the champion of MTV’s The Challenge: Total Madness, which tests participants both physically and mentally.

She revealed she will use her money to buy a home.

Jennifer was a membership advisor at Total Fitness while qualifying as a personal trainer and then got to work supporting her clients.

She continues to help other people, mostly online and has become an inspirational figure in health and fitness as part of the West Twins, with sister Lucy, and they have thousands of followers on social media.

Viewers can download the free Wakey! app and choose the time they want each show sent to their mobile phone every week day and it acts as your alarm clock.
