Members of Hindley Green Junior Volunteers enjoyed music, dancing, party games and plenty of sweets.

There was an award for a boy who has been involved since the group started, thanks for supporters and volunteers and a special mention for founder and chairman Christine Lawler.

Jordan Gaskell said: “Christine's continued commitment to her community and to supporting young people has remained a constant inspiration to us all. Five years ago an idea became a group, and that group has grown into something that has brought together young people, volunteers, families and our wider community.

“We are incredibly proud of how far Hindley Green Junior Volunteers has come.”

It came as the group received a £500 donation from the Asda Foundation, helping to continue free weekly sessions for children, with activities including crafts, sports, gardening and litter picking.
