An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “Heavy rainfall overnight has caused river levels to rise. The rainfall is expected to have passed over by early afternoon.

“The Environment Agency will continue to monitor and will update if the situation changes.”

A flood alert means, although flooding is not expected to occur, it is possible, and people in the affected areas should be prepared.
