Road closed after car overturns

A road had to be shut for around an hour after a car ended up on its side in a collision in Leigh.

Police were called to the incident involving a blue Suzuki, which had overturned, and a Volkswagen Transporter at around 10.20am on Tuesday.

The collision happened at the junction of The Avenue and Hanover Street.

The woman driving the Suzuki escaped without injury. She was given a precautionary check-up by a crew from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS)>

Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) closed the road for around an hour while dealing with the incident.

The road was open again by 11.30am.
