The car was later seen shortly before 12.15pm with a second car, which has been described as an ‘old-style’ green Rover, along Violet Street in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

One of the offenders is described as a man of stocky build, about 5ft 10in tall, and was wearing dark clothing, possibly a black leather jacket, black full face mask and he spoke with a local accent.

Detective Inspector Martin Reddintgon of GMP’s Wigan team said: “Although the victim was not hurt, he was understandably left shaken by what has happened and we are determined to find out who is responsible.

“If you saw men fitting their description at Asda or acting suspiciously at about the time of the robbery, then please come forward as you could have vital information that will help us.”
