There are long delays between J15 and J13 with traffic also affected heading southbound on the M61 from J2 due to traffic attempting to merge onto the M60 anti-clockwise carriageway.

All emergency services are present and Highways England have advised drivers to consider alternative routes and should allow extra time for their journeys.
