Flooding blocks all railway lines between Wigan Wallgate and Kirby

Train services between Wigan Wallgate and Kirkby have been cancelled due to flooding caused by heavy rain.

Rail services between Wigan Wallgate and Kirkby have been suspended in both directions this morning (Thursday, October 8) due to flood water on the line at Upholland.

Disruption to the line is expected to last until midday, with road replacement services replacing affected services.

A spokesman for Northern said: "We are currently unable to call at Pemberton, Orrell, Upholland, Rainford and Kirkby."

Customers on station platforms have been asked to listen for announcements or consult Information Screens.
