Travellers have been evicted from a park in Wigan.

Around 15 caravans and other vehicles had been based at the park on Golborne Road, Ashton, since Wednesday afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police said they had received a large number of calls regarding the issue.

It was also reported to Wigan Council’s travellers sites department and bailiffs served an initial notice of eviction at the park on Thursday.

It is understood that bailiffs evicted the group from the park on Saturday morning.
