Firefighters' efforts prevent blaze spreading to barn

Crews from Wigan and Ormskirk fire stations were called to Robin Hood Lane in Wrightington at 2.45pm on Wednesday.

A metal container holding a lot of paper was alight and there were concerns the flames could spread to the barn next to it.

The firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reels and a lance to extinguish the blaze, with a thermal imaging camera also used to check it was out properly.

They spent one hour and 40 minutes at the incident.
