Woman, 61, robbed outside pharmacy

Police are appealing for information after a woman was the victim of a street robbery in Wigan.

Shortly before 2pm on Thursday April 21, the 61-year-old victim was outside the Lloyds Pharmacy, Scholes, when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her shoulder. He pulled her backwards, grabbing two necklaces from her neck as she fell to the floor, and fled.

The offender is described as a white man, of slim build, wearing dark sunglasses and a hat.

Sergeant David Johnston from GMP’s Wigan division said: “This is a cowardly attack on a lone woman that has left her shaken.

“If anyone has any information surrounding the robbery, or if you have perhaps been offered two gold necklaces for sale in the area, one with a heart pendant, one with two gold rings attached please contact the police.”
