Youths spark concern on the motorway
POLICE had to intervene as youths were spotted playing chicken on a busy motorway.
Officers from the Merseyside branch of North West Motorway Police used their sirens to warn the three youngsters who were running across the carriageway on the M6, near junction 23 at Haydock in the early hours of Sunday.
A spokesman for North West Motorway Police said: “We had reports of youths walking along the hard shoulder of the M6, at junction 23 and then they were running across the carriageway. Patrols were blue-lighting to warn them and matrix signs were set to alert drivers.
“We warn against pedestrians walking or running on the carriageways as it is very dangerous.”
