Callum McManaman still has 'a lot to offer' after securing Wigan Athletic contract extension

The 33-year-old has been rewarded for a strong 2023-24 campaign, which saw him make 45 appearances across four competitions - the highest figure of his career.
And he is adamant there is plenty more to come in season two of the rebuild under his old team-mate Shaun Maloney.

"Ever since I returned last year, I have been grateful to the gaffer, the fans, my team-mates and the club in general for helping me enjoy my football once again and get my career back on track.
“I still have a lot to offer, and I want to continue being a part of what the gaffer is building here, and hopefully, help get Wigan Athletic back to where it belongs.
"I can't wait to be back out there in front of you Tics next season."

“I’m thrilled Callum has decided to extend his stay with Wigan Athletic, and he fully deserves to continue writing his story here," said the Latics boss.
“From the moment Callum returned to the club last year, I saw instantly that he still had a lot to offer, and I wanted him to enjoy his football once again.
"Last season, I really felt like we saw the Callum of old, and he contributed on so many occasions in so many big games.

"I'm sure, like me, supporters are delighted with this news, and we look forward to seeing Callum back out there next season."
McManaman came through the ranks at the then-JJB Stadium, becoming the club’s youngest ever Premier League player when he was handed his debut by Steve Bruce against Portsmouth on the final day of the 2008-09 campaign.
He was sold to West Bromwich Albion in January, 2015 for around £4.5million but, after a short spell at Sunderland, he rejoined Latics under Paul Cook for the 2018-19 campaign.

Chairman Ben Goodburn added: "Callum's journey with Wigan Athletic has been special, to say the least.
"From making his Premier League debut against Portsmouth in 2009, to helping win the FA Cup in 2013 with his man of the match performance, and goals in previous rounds before playing a key part in last season's achievements.
"We are all delighted that the story will continue next season."
